Welcome to Excellent Elm with Mrs Crockett and Miss Hancock!
We are so excited to teach you this year and are so impressed with how much learning you have already done since the first day of school.
In maths, the students have been hard at work counting by ones and tens to build a strong foundation in place value.
In writing, the students have been creating their own sentences using a variety of adjectives, verbs, adverbs, similes and more.
As it is a brand new school year, the students have been discussing any worries they may have in Year 2. Students drew/wrote about a worry and then worked together to come up with ways to decrease our worries.
We are thrilled to learn with you this year!
Another amazing week in Excellent Elm! The children continued to settle into the routines and expectations of Year 2. We are so impressed with how hard the children are working already.
In maths, the children compared numbers (greater than/less than) and partitioned numbers up to 100!
In writing, the children received their Talk For Writing books and did their absolute best handwriting in them. The class came up with a story together and then everyone happily wrote their story in the new books.
Excellent Elm had an exciting week! In computing, the children learned about taking photos in portrait mode and landscape mode. The children were also excited to learn about avatars/profile pictures and had the opportunity to create their own. The children discussed how important it is to check avatar authenticity and to ask grownups for help to stay safe.
On Friday, the children enjoyed celebrating European Day of Languages. The children wore colours representing their chosen country's flag to school. Everyone loved reading stories in Spanish, German and French and learning how to sing a song in Spanish. Lastly, Excellent Elm was introduced to Yayoi Kusama, a contemporary Japanese artist.
